In rating all-time songwriting greats (with an emphasis on lyrics) I would list Elvis up there with Cole Porter, Ira Gershwin, McCartney/Lennon and Leonard Cohen

@PISSGUZZLER Well I did say it IS my fav album by him although it’s not the most easiest task to choose ‘favourite’ albums for me, even when I try as there are way too many that are superb that I love for different reasons

@TheKenfig Yeah sure, I do not doubt that. But this album is very complete. The music is just absolutely marvellous but the lyrics of all the songs of that album have a deep meaning .

@PISSGUZZLER That’s a good choice you made I reckon. My fav by him too, though I really like ‘Imperial Bedroom’ and lots on ‘Get Happy’

Yes, when you bought the album you got the bonus 45 rpm with the live Accidents Will Happen, right? I think it was live at the Hollywood High, if I remember correctly.

I believe it says Armed Forces, the name of the album. As for getting a copy, there are a number of ways, without me having to go into detail about it here@emjlev13

Defrus–what are the words underneath the elephants photo on this video and the “Oliver’s Army” video? I was hoping to get a copy?

Saw him 2 years ago in CT. Guitar god meets sarcastic genius.
@kevtruth Bowie is a brilliant lyricist
@MrFitflick I’d add Dylan and Ray Davies
